DEFINITION
The ⁶⁸Ge/⁶⁸Ga generator consists of Germanium-68 (⁶⁸Ge), a long-lived parent isotope, immobilized on a matrix within a column. Through the decay of ⁶⁸Ge (half-life: 270.8 days), the generator continuously produces its short-lived daughter radionuclide, Gallium-68 (half-life: 68 minutes). The Ga-68 obtained from the generator is suitable for direct radiolabeling or further purification to meet high-purity standards required for clinical applications.
